MESSAGE FROM BISHOP VÁSQUEZ / MENSAJE DEL OBISPO VÁSQUEZ

  On June 11, I ordained Sam Bass, Jakob Hurlimann and Fernando Ricaud to the priesthood. Please keep these men in your prayers, that the Holy Spirit will infuse them with courage and generosity.  Recognizing and accepting the call to serve the Church, especially as a priest, is something that we must all cultivate in our parishes and families. In a world that is often noisy and filled with distractions, we must pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood. Pray also for our seminarians and religious men and women in formation whose “yes” is a gift to us all. 
As we continue to mourn the deaths of 19 children and their two teachers in Uvalde and the tragic loss of life in Tulsa, Oklahoma, please join me in holding these men and women in your thoughts and prayers this week. May this Pentecost breathe into our world a fresh wind of the Spirit, bringing us into a new oneness – a new communion of God’s goodness and grace.

El día 11 de junio, ordenaré a Sam Bass, Jakob Hurlimann y Fernando Ricaud al sacerdocio. Por favor, mantengan a estos tres hombres en sus oraciones, por que el Espíritu Santo los infunda con valor y generosidad.   Reconocer y aceptar el llamado al servicio de la Iglesia, especialmente como sacerdote, es algo que todos debemos cultivar en nuestras parroquias y familias. En un mundo con frecuencia ruidoso y lleno de distracciones, oremos por un aumento en las vocaciones al sacerdocio. Oren también por nuestros seminaristas y hombres y mujeres religiosos en formación cuyo “sí” es un regalo para todos.  
Mientras continuamos de duelo por la muerte de 19 niños(as) y sus dos maestras en Uvalde, y por la trágica pérdida de vida en Tulsa, Oklahoma, por favor únanse a mí en mantener a estos hombres y mujeres en sus pensamientos y oraciones esta semana. Que este Pentecostés respire en nuestro mundo un viento fresco del Espíritu, llevándonos a una nueva unidad —una nueva comunión en la bondad y gracia de Dios.
